Women’s Olympic Soccer Semifinals: Predictions & Best Bets (8/6)
The Women’s Olympic Soccer Tournament is down to the Semifinals as just four teams remain, but they are all familiar foes. The Semifinals this year feature teams from just two different groups, and both matchups have already seen each other before. We will be covering both games and giving you our predictions and best bets as these games kick off today!
- United States vs Germany
- Brazil vs Spain
Now, like I said, these teams have already played. The United States and Germany were the top two teams in Group A, and the only two to advance from that group. In the group stage match, the USA routed Germany 4-1 on their way to 3 points and their 2nd win of the Olympic tournament. Can Germany get their revenge today?
As for Spain and Brazil, Spain topped Group C, while Brazil advanced as a 3rd place qualifier. Spain beat Brazil 2-0, and we actually bet the under 2.5 in that game and cashed as well. Now these teams meet again, with a spot in the Gold Medal match on the line. Brazil has sort of limped their way into this Semifinal match, but they did take down the hosts 1-0 in the Quarterfinals. Can they shock Spain and upset them for a chance at the Gold?
Let’s dive into our best bets!

This is quite the shot in the dark, but it’s the best I could come up with. These lines seem a little fishy to me. I get that this is the semifinal match, and not just some group stage affair, however, we saw 5 goals last time these teams met and now we can get over 2.5 for plus money?!
Do I see Germany putting up more of a fight than they did a week ago? Of course. But this USWNT is very focused, very talented, and are quite frankly handling business. While Japan took them extra time, they still controlled 71% of possession and had more chances and corners. Looking specifically at the last game between these teams, the United States led 3-1 at halftime. After scoring in the 10th minute, Germany equalized in the 22nd. It only took the US 4 minutes to take the lead again, and Sophia Smith netted her second goal in the 44th right before halftime. They never looked back and won 4-1.
Ultimately, I see Germany putting up a fight, but they know they will need to be aggressive offensively. This could certainly lead their backline to be exposed to the United States’ young, speedy counter attack. With Smith, Trinity Rodman, and Mallory Swanson playing up top, the United States offensive firepower is the best in the world. Their backline is solid as well, and I think Germany will be forced to push forward and create chances. For +164, I’m willing to bet that the United States net one early and hold the lead till the halftime whistle. Give me the 1H ML for some nice plus money.

We are out here hunting some plus money on the pitch today, and I think we see a complete repeat of the group stage match. Other than the United States, Spain looked just as dominant in the group stage matches. Yes, they were nearly knocked out by Colombia in the Quarterfinals, but they rallied and survived. After being down 1-0 after the 12th minute, Spain conceded another goal in the 52′ to go down 2-nil, but that didn’t stop them. The 2023 World Cup Champions found their first goal in the 79th minute, and an equalizer in the 90’+7′ to force Extra Time. After Penalty Kicks, Spain advanced to the Semifinal match.
Now they play Brazil, who are very hungry for revenge. They made the most of the hosts in the Quarterfinals, but they have struggled offensively. Personally, I think we see Spain win this game 1-0 (+440), but I will take the plus money on the shutout victory. Spain controlled the ball in over 77% of their semifinal match, and produced 33 shot attempts. They controlled nearly 83% of possession against Brazil in their first match, and totaled 28 attempts. That’s nearly 60 attempts in their last 2 matches.
That wins championships, and I think that will win Spain their match this afternoon. I see their back line holding strong and their offense taking care of the ball, finding chances and not giving Brazil much time to play offense of their own. Give me Spain to Nil!
