Wimbledon Men’s Singles Odds & Favorites: ATP Top Three Out Ahead of the SW19 Field

Is it Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz’s world, and everyone else is just living in it? After claiming the first two Grand Slams this year, the two brightest young stars in men’s tennis are the favorites in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw.

In January, Sinner made his Grand Slam breakthrough, coming back from two sets down to stun Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final.

He couldn’t make it two in two at French Open, falling in five sets against Alcaraz in the semifinals after being up two sets to one. But there was the consolation of ascending to the top of the ATP singles rankings due to his run to the semifinals and Novak Djokovic’s early exit from the tournament due to injury.

Alcaraz went on to win his first French Open title and third Grand Slam singles title with a five-set win over Alexander Zverev in the final, and he will now look to defend his title at Wimbledon, where he defeated Djokovic in five sets in last year’s final.

He will do so as the second favorite for the title, just behind Sinner. Alcaraz, Sinner, and Djokovic are the only other players with odds shorter than +1600 entering the first round, which starts bright and early tomorrow.

Who Are the Favorites for the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Title?

Djokovic (four – 2022 Wimbledon, 2023 Australian Open, 2023 French Open, 2023 US Open), Alcaraz (2022 US Open, 2023 Wimbledon, 2024 French Open), and Sinner (2024 Australian Open) have claimed the last eight Grand Slam men’s singles titles.

Djokovic’s fitness is currently a question mark after he suffered a torn meniscus in the fourth round of the French Open against Francisco Cerundolo, but the fact that he won that match anyway before withdrawing from the tournament and is playing at Wimbledon less than a month later should be a telling indication about where he is and where he will be.

It’s hard to see the title going beyond Sinner, Alcaraz, or Djokovic. But if it does, the most interesting name on the board is Draper, the top-ranked British men’s singles player.

Wimbledon Men’s Singles Seeds

  1. Jannik Sinner
  2. Novak Djokovic
  3. Carlos Alcaraz
  4. Alexander Zverev
  5. Daniil Medvedev
  6. Andrey Rublev
  7. Hubert Hurkacz
  8. Casper Ruud
  9. Alex de Minaur
  10. Grigor Dimitrov
  11. Stefanos Tsitsipas
  12. Tommy Paul
  13. Taylor Fritz
  14. Ben Shelton
  15. Holger Rune
  16. Ugo Humbert
  17. Felix Auger-Aliassime
  18. Sebastian Baez
  19. Nicolas Jarry
  20. Sebastian Korda
  21. Karen Khachanov
  22. Adrian Mannarino
  23. Alexander Bublik
  24. Alejandro Tabilo
  25. Lorenzo Musetti
  26. Francisco Cerundolo
  27. Tallon Griekspoor
  28. Jack Draper
  29. Frances Tiafoe
  30. Tomas Martin Etcheverry
  31. Mariano Navone
  32. Zhang Zhizhen

Most of the other players considered Wimbledon favorites or contenders are established. Then there’s Draper. Two weeks ago, the 22-year-old won his first ATP Tour title in Stuttgart, defeating 2021 Wimbledon finalist Berrettini in three sets.

Draper is the 28th seed in the Wimbledon men’s singles draw, and his quarter features #4 seed Zverev, #13 seed Fritz, and 2022 Wimbledon semifinalist Norrie, who is unseeded and has been usurped as the British #1 after being seeded #19 at the Australian Open and #32 at the French Open.

To date, Draper’s best Grand Slam result is reaching the fourth round in the US Open last year. He has yet to make it past the second round in any other Grand Slam but that one, where he also reached the third round in 2022.

But he is in a favorable quarter, as Zverev has never gone past the fourth round at Wimbledon and Fritz has gone past the fourth round only once (a quarterfinal appearance in 2022).

If Draper can get past Norrie in the second round, he could be someone to watch for the second week of the tournament.
