White Sox vs Cubs, Crosstown Classic Prediction, Odds & Best Bets: June 5th, 2024
The Crosstown Classic, the Windy City Showdown, whatever you wanna call it, it’s a showdown in Chi-Town. The White Sox and Cubs face off for the final game of a quick two game series at Wrigley Field. Last night, the Cubbies were able to squeak out a win thanks to a 2 run 8th inning double from Ian Happ to win the game, 7-6.
Tonight, we’ve got a couple righties battling on the bump tonight, and these teams will have to wait until August to see each other again and seek possible revenge.
Will the White Sox pull off a big upset today on the North side? Or can the Cubs hold on and stay hot at Wrigley Field?

Can the Cubs Get the W at Home?
Can the Cubs beat the White Sox in the Crosstown Classic?
Look, Jameson Taillon has had a few rough outings recently, but his last two starts have been on the road. Overall, he’s pitched much better at Wrigley. In four starts at home this season, Taillon has improved stats compared to his entire season.
Taillon at Home
- ERA: 2.84 – 2.13
- WHIP: 1.26 – 1.13
- K/Inning: 0.66 – 0.9
Improved numbers all around, and the White Sox can’t hit to save their life. They hit right around .215 overall, on the road and against RHP, and although the Cubs don’t smash righties either, they hit better at home. Their .222 team average jumps to about .230 at Wrigley Field.
Although the Cubs have sort of been slumping, I don’t trust Erick Fedde at all. Especially on the road.
Fedde on the Road
- ERA: 3.12 – 5.79
- WHIP: 1.18 – 1.54
The Cubs score 4.33 runs per game and are producing the same numbers at Wrigley. I trust Taillon at home, and coming off two bad starts, I think this is a perfect get back spot for him. I’ll be backing the Cubs to win by 2 tonight at home.
Chicago White Sox vs Chicago Cubs Best Bets
The Cubs are 17-13 at Wrigley Field this season
Best Bets: Cubs -1.5 (+115) BetOnline
Yes, yes, once again, we are fading the White Sox. Get used to it. This team is horrendous.
They’ve only scored 178 runs this season. That is the worst in the MLB, by a freaking LANDSLIDE. The Miami Marlins are 29th in the league, and they’ve score 224 runs already. The White Sox have absolutely no offense at all.
The White Sox losing streak is up to 12 straight games, although I’ll give them credit, they covered last night and on Saturday in Milwaukee. Other than that, the Sox have lost by 2 in 14 of their last 17 games, losing 16 of those contests straight up. The Cubs are 17-13 at home and the White Sox are just 5-25 on the road.
For +115 at BetOnline, I’m definitely taking this. I’m surprised this is plus money.
