I’m only kind of kidding, but in reality it’s Aaron Judge. He’s coming off an MVP year and putting up another one in the follow up this year. Everyone on this Yankees team outside of Soto and Judge has been bad and now having blown their lead in the AL East, it’s time for Judge to take matters into his own hands.

He’s batting 0.310 this year with 35 home runs and 89 RBI. He’s scored another 76 runs to go along with that and the Yankees have the best offense in baseball. It’s been everyone else where the Yanks have had trouble.

Tonight Judge is home at Yankee Stadium, where he’s batting 0.323 with a 0.702 SLG (16 HR) and 40 RBI. Tonight he faces off with lefty Jose Quintana off the Mets.

Judge smashes lefties, batting 0.315 with a 0.740 SLG. Tonight he goes yard for us one more time.

Breakdown

Bryan Reynolds has been so good this year. He’s 0.288 and leads his team in all major offensive categories. He’s hit 18 home runs, scored 49 runs, and batted in another 61. Reynolds played in every single Pirates’ game this year (100) and he’s been even better in front of the home crowd.

Reynolds is batting 0.296 at PNC Park this year with 10 of his 18 home runs coming right here. He’s faced off with the Cardinals 7 times this year and is batting just 0.241 but he’ll look to change that today against Lance Lynn.

He’s 1/3 in his career against Lynn, but all 3 at-bats came in one game. Lynn has a 5.46 road ERA this year and has been letting lefties hit 0.270 with 9 home runs.

Reynolds is a career switch hitter, but he’s batting 0.288 against both lefties and righties this year, with a very similar SLG percentage as well. It’s been 4 straight home games without a home run for Reynolds, but to me it just sounds like he’s incredibly due.

Red Sox Slug Fest

Breakdown

I couldn’t pick just one, so we’re going right back to both of them. Jarren Duran and Tyler O’neill were electric last night. O’neill finished with 3 hits and Duran had a triple late in the game but also scored two runs; somehow the Red Sox still lost.

They’ve not lost 4 straight on this road trip and look desperate to turn it around. They managed to put up 8 runs last night at Coors Field but still lost to the Rockies. Since the All-Star break, Devers has looked lost out there; going 1/16 in 4 games and just 1 RBI.

O’neill is batting 0.444 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI in the 4 games since, and Duran’s right behind him; batting 0.389 with 2 home runs of his own and 7 RBI. 

Tonight they face off with lefty Ty Blach of the Rockies. O’neill has smashed lefties all year, batting 0.318 with a 0.636 SLG. Duran’s batting 0.265 against them and still hasn’t hit his first home run at Coors Field. Could today be the day?
