The Rangers took a 2-1 series lead with a hard-fought 5-4 victory in Game 3. After the Panthers scored two third-period goals to force overtime, Alex Wennberg scored his first postseason goal at 5:35 in the extra frame to give New York the win.
Can New York take a 3-1 lead after tonight? Or will Florida even things up before the series returns to Madison Square Garden?
Tonight’s Rangers vs. Panthers showdown is also filled with NHL betting opportunities, so let’s highlight a few of them as we get into my Game 4 predictions and best bets.

Rangers vs Panthers NHL Game 4 Predictions & Pick (5/28)
The pressure is officially on the Rangers, who have the opportunity to go up 3-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals tonight. Momentum is on their side following back-to-back wins, however, it can be argued that they could easily be down 3-0 considering how both of those victories came in overtime.
Nevertheless, the reality is that the Rangers are ahead and will look to continue their recent road success. After all, Peter Laviolette’s club has won 10 of its last 12 road games, outscoring those opponents 51-36 on aggregate. That’s without mentioning how they also own an impressive 36.7% power-play percentage during that stretch.
It isn’t like the Panthers haven’t found success at home lately, though, going 9-3 SU in their last 12 outings at Amerant Bank Arena. At the same time, Florida has dropped three of its last four home games dating back to the last round.
Another thing going against the Panthers is that they’re 3-6 SU in their last nine games against the Metropolitan Division.
The Panthers must figure out how to win at home if they want to avoid falling into a bigger series hole.
Having said that, it hasn’t been all bad for the Panthers in this series. They’ve played well on special teams, going 3-for-11 (27.3%) on the man advantage while killing all eight of the Rangers’ PP opportunities. Florida has also outscored New York 4-0 in the third period of those series, meaning that figuring out how to start stronger could lead to the former eventually taking control.
A bounce-back performance from Sergei Bobrovsky would also help the Panthers. While the Russian netminder allowed five goals on 23 shots in Game 3, let’s not forget that he turned aside 52-of-54 attempts (96.3%) in the first two contests.
On the flip side, Igor Shesterkin has been great for the Rangers, playing to a 2.13 goals-against average and .922 save percentage thus far.
And while Shesterkin could easily steal the show tonight, I’m taking the Panthers to even the series. Florida nearly won Games 2 and 3, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the host team evens things up tonight — especially if special teams continue to work in their favor. Don’t be surprised if this series goes the full seven games.
I’ll also be taking the Under on the 5.5-goal total. Although these teams combined for nine goals on Sunday, the first two encounters saw three goals apiece. I also see Bobrobsky and Shesterkin bouncing back after lackluster performances in Game 3, so try not to be shocked if there aren’t a ton of fireworks.

Lafrenière was terrific in Game 3, ending a four-game point drought with a two-goal performance. The former first-overall selection now has 11 points in his last nine road games, which includes registering at least one point in four of the last five.
With points in three straight trips to Amerant Bank Arena, there’s a good chance that Lafrenière hits paydirt again tonight.
