The Stars fought hard for a 5-3 victory in Game 3, taking a 2-1 series lead over the Oilers in the process. Edmonton led 2-0 after the first period but couldn’t maintain Dallas pulled off a comeback that was led by Jason Robertson’s first-ever postseason hat trick.

Will Edmonton shake off its latest loss with a win? Or will Dallas take one step closer to a Stanley Cup Final appearance?

Stars vs Oilers NHL Game 4 Predictions & Pick (5/29)

After opening the Western Conference Finals with a win, the Oilers have quickly found themselves in danger of falling behind 3-1 tonight. They can’t risk heading back to Dallas with a two-game deficit, meaning they must defeat the Stars this evening to maintain hope.

The main thing that the Oilers must do is play the full 60 minutes. Game 3 marked the second time that Kris Knoblauch’s team blew a two-goal lead in this series after already doing so in Game 1 (which they salvaged with an overtime victory). They just can’t afford to they their foot off the gas because a team as good as the Stars will make them play.

Having said that, it’s important to point out that Dallas has outscored Edmonton 9-4 in the second and third periods of this series.

It doesn’t help that the Oilers aren’t exactly getting consistent goaltending. After stopping 31-of-33 shots (93.9%) in the series opener, Stuart Skinner surrendered six goals on 45 shots in the last two contests and even finished Game 3 with a .810 save percentage.

Oilers G Stuart Skinner struggled in Games 2 and 3. Will he be in top form tonight?

Meanwhile, the Stars have been receiving tremendous play from Jake Oettinger. The 25-year-old netminder has backstopped his way to a 2.09 goals-against average and .928 SV% through three outings, finishing each contest with a .900 SV% or better.

Even more impressive is that Oettinger has only lost one of his last 13 road starts with a 1.89 GAA, .930 SV%, and one shutout along the way.

It’s also hard to doubt the Stars due to their impressive depth. All four of Dallas’ lines can generate offenses, whereas Edmonton hasn’t received any production outside of its first line in this series. When the Ryan Nugent-Hopkins/Connor McDavid/Zach Hyman line isn’t rolling, nobody has stepped up.

With that in mind, I see the Stars taking a 3-1 series lead tonight. They’ve been the better team throughout the series and their lineup depth is undeniable. Throw in the fact that Dallas is also receiving great play between the pipes and it’s easy to see why the visiting team could win.

I’ll also take a Stars outright upset. They just beat the Oilers by two goals on the road, which includes outscoring them 5-1 in the final two frames. If there’s a team that can win in enemy territory, it’s the Stars.

Best Stars vs Oilers NHL Game 4 Player Prop (5/29)

While there are a few Stars vs. Oilers Game 4 prop bets that stand out, I can’t ignore the decent value that comes with Jamie Benn o0.5 points (-104).

After an up-and-down start to the 2023-24 NHL postseason, Benn has officially hit his stride. The former Art Ross Trophy winner has racked up three goals and seven assists for 10 points in his last nine games, finishing with at least one point six times. In fact, he heads into tonight’s affair riding a four-game point streak.

Furthermore, the Over is also 7-2 in his last nine meetings with the Oilers — a stretch where he amassed 11 points. Leaders like Benn know how to step up when it matters the most, so expect him to lead by example tonight.
