The 2023-24 NBA Finals begin on Thursday, pitting the Dallas Mavericks against the Boston Celtics to decide this year’s championship. Not only is the upcoming series loaded with star power but it’s also laced with a plethora of betting opportunities — especially when it comes to prop markers.
For those who are new to betting, a prop is short for “proposition bet.” Rather than reflecting the outcome of a game like the spread or the total, a prop bet tends to be related to a specific player’s performance. For example, projecting Luka Doncic to score at least 30 points in Game 1 or taking the Celtics to win two of the first three games are examples of prop bets.
With all of the talent involved in this series, NBA bettors should be ready for some exciting props in the next few weeks. While figuring out where to begin can be tough, Betting News is here to help make that journey easier.
Here’s a look at the three best Mavericks vs. Celtics series prop bets for the 2023-24 NBA Finals.
NBA Finals 2024: 3 Must-Bet Mavericks vs Celtics Series Props
All Mavericks vs. Celtics NBA Finals 2024 prop odds are courtesy of BetOnline as of Tuesday, June 4 at 9:53 a.m. ET.
1. Game 1/Series Parlay — Boston Celtics (-135)
When it comes to the first NBA Finals prop I like, I can’t help but take the Boston Celtics to win both Game 1 and the series at -135 odds.
Regardless of how long their first three series lasted, they all began and ended in the same way: with a Celtics victory. Boston is 3-0 in Game 1s through the 2023-24 postseason thus far, outscoring those opponents by an average of 16.7 points in those contests. Joe Mazzulla’s team even won two games by at least 20 points.
The fact is that getting to open every series at TD Garden gives the Celtics a major advantage. Between the regular season and playoffs, the C’s are an impressive 43-6 SU across 49 home matchups — an 87.6% success rate. Meanwhile, the Mavericks own a 64.0% winning percentage on the road.
Dallas can only win this series if it wins multiple games in Boston, which will be easier said than done. The Celtics have only lost twice at home during the playoffs and the most recent defeat came way back on May 9. It doesn’t help that Dallas is only 2-6 SU across its last eight trips to TD Garden.
At the end of the day, I fully expect the Celtics to exploit the home-court advantage they have in this series, riding it to a championship victory.

2. Most Total 3’s in Series — Luka Doncic (-110)
Basketball enthusiasts can wager on a variety of player props during the NBA Finals, including who’ll lead the series in threes made. While both sides feature their fair share of perimeter savants, I’m taking Luka Doncic (-110) to score the most three-pointers in the Finals.
Doncic is a threat from wherever he stands, including the three-point line. The five-time NBA All-Star is averaging 3.4 threes made on 9.8 attempts through 17 playoff games, which translates to a 34.3% success rate. Having said that, the low percentage is mainly due to a slow start to the postseason. Doncic has since turned things around in the last few weeks, averaging 4.6 threes made on 45.7% shooting across his last seven outings.
Doncic’s main competition regarding this prop is Derrick White (+275), who’s also averaging 3.4 threes made per game. However, unlike Doncic, White’s production is on the decline, highlighted by his averaging 2.5 threes with a 32.3 3P% in his last eight games.
Even with the Celtics having one of the better defenses in the NBA, Doncic will find a way to make things happen. It’s just what he does. He’ll pounce on any outside opportunities he gets, which should result in his being the most productive shooter in this series.

3. Series Spread — Celtics -1.5 Games (-105)
NBA bettors can even get in on some series spread action. When it comes to this prop market, I like the idea of the Celtics winning this series by over 1.5 games (-105).
As great as the Mavericks have been through the first three rounds, the NBA Finals are a different beast. The franchise hasn’t competed for a championship in over a decade, whereas the Celtics were just at this stage two years ago. That difference in experience gives Boston a major advantage — especially when it already knows how it feels to be on the losing end.
Taking the Celtics to cover the spread is also quite the versatile bet. As long as they win in four, five, or six games, this bet will cash in, meaning that the only ways it won’t are 1) if they win in seven games or 2) the Mavericks win the series. Considering how the majority of Boston’s roster has already played under this spotlight before, it’s easy to see why this prop bet is enticing.
BetOnline is already favoring the Celtics to win this series in five games (+340), adding more legitimacy to this prop pick. It’s going to be tough for the Mavericks to keep things close the longer this series goes on, meaning it’s best to hop on the Boston bandwagon before it’s too late.
