Fever vs Storm Prediction & Picks (6/27): Can Improving Indiana Impress in Seattle Again?

After getting their nine-game homestand off to the best possible start, the Seattle Storm will look to make it consecutive wins tonight as they host Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in the late game on tonight’s WNBA schedule (10:00 pm ET, Amazon Prime Video).

On Sunday, the Storm (10-6) tipped off their long home swing with a 72-61 victory over the Connecticut Sun. In the victory, Seattle allowed a season low in points, and they held the Sun to 14.3% from three and 37.3% overall from the field.

Tonight, they will face the Fever (7-11) for the third time this season. Indiana played it close in the first matchup in Seattle on May 22, an 85-83 victory for the Storm. In Indianapolis eight days later, things weren’t as close, with Seattle leading by as many as 27 and reaching a season high in points in a 103-88 triumph.

Since dropping to 1-8 with that loss, the Fever have made a big leap forward, winning six of nine games. Can they keep it close at Climate Pledge Arena for the second time this season?

Indiana Fever vs Seattle Storm Betting Analysis

Last time out, the Fever came up short of a fifth straight win, falling 88-87 to the Chicago Sky in the third matchup of the season featuring Clark, Angel Reese, and South Carolina duo Aliyah Boston and Kamilla Cardoso.

It was a real missed opportunity for Indiana, who led by 15 in the third quarter and a dozen in the fourth. With 6:38 remaining, the Fever were up 82-70, but the Sky outscored them 18-5 the rest of the way to pull out the win at Wintrust Arena.

While the Fever lost a game that they should have won, they did continue their recent scoring exploits. They have scored least 87 points in each of their last five games and are averaging 89.6 PPG in that stretch. And it’s not just one player driving the ship, as four different players (Clark, Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and NaLyssa Smith) have led the team in scoring in those last five games.

Can that scoring continue tonight? Seattle is allowing an average of 72.8 PPG at home, but the Fever have put up some points against the Storm twice already.

Unfortunately, even if they do so again, it likely won’t be enough to upset the odds. The Storm are 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS this season when scoring 80+ points in regulation, losing only to the Las Vegas Aces last week and failing to cover only in the loss to the Aces and the first win over the Fever. Also, since opening the season with consecutive losses to the Minnesota Lynx, Seattle is 9-1 SU and 8-2 ATS as a favorite, including 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS as a home favorite.

Indiana Fever vs Seattle Storm Prediction & Picks

Prediction for Fever vs Storm: Storm to win

Picks for Fever vs Storm: 1) Storm -9, 2) Jewell Loyd over 20.5 points (+100 at Bovada), 3) Kelsey Mitchell over 16.5 points (-115 at Bovada), 4) NaLyssa Smith over 12.5 points (-120 at Bovada)

I’m going heavy on the props tonight because there are several great options on the board.

Loyd’s shooting percentages continue to be a concern, but she shot well in the two previous games against the Fever. In the first game, she scored a season-high 32 points and was 12 of 24 from the field. In the second game, she was 8 of 14 from the field in a 22-point effort.

Mitchell is currently on a good run, averaging 21.0 PPG in her last five games with three 20-point games and no fewer than 17 points in any game.

Smith, meanwhile, has had two good games against the Storm this season. She had 16 points and 11 rebounds (a season high) in the first meeting and 23 points (a season high) and 10 rebounds in the second matchup.
