Copa America 2024 Semifinals, Argentina vs Canada: Prediction & Best Bets
The Semifinals of Copa America 2024 have arrived, with the initial contest tonight presenting two teams we previously witnessed in the Group Stage. Argentina and Canada, both Group A participants who triumphed in their Quarterfinals, are set for a rematch tonight. The stakes are high with a place in the Title match up for grabs. In the inaugural match of the Copa America 2024 tournament, Argentina defeated Canada 2-0. However, Canada put up a staunch defense during the first 45 minutes.
After winning their next two, Canada held on against Group B Winner, Venezuela, in the Quarterfinals, advancing on penalty kicks. Argentina has handled business in all 4 of their matches, and I don’t necessarily see that changing tonight. Congrats to Canada for making it here, but they are the clear outlier left in this Copa America, and I see it ending tonight.
Enough with the hints, let’s analyze the competition and discover the top bets!

Argentina Faces a Familiar Foe in the Semifinals
In this Copa America, Emiliano Martinez has only conceded one goal in four matches.
As previously mentioned, these teams kickstarted the entire Copa America tournament, with Argentina securing a 2-0 victory through two goals in the second half. Although Argentina hasn’t been scoring 3-4 goals per match, their strong performance has led them to win each game or at least progress to the Quarterfinals.
What has truly caught my eye is Argentina’s defense. They’ve only allowed eight shots on target and twelve corner kicks in the four matches of this tournament. They are effectively blocking their opponents from getting any opportunities on goal, which certainly lightens the load for Emi Martinez. I believe that if they maintain this strong defensive strategy, they have a real shot at winning the entire tournament. Regardless, I don’t anticipate them facing any significant challenges in tonight’s game.
Despite Canada’s survival in the knockout round with two match wins, their offensive performance has been lacking. Throughout the three group stage matches, they only managed to get seven shots on target, even with over an hour’s worth of man advantage in two games. They did rally to get seven shots on target against Venezuela, but only one made it past the goalkeeper. Without an improved offensive output, Canada’s chances of progressing further are slim.
The Copa America Tournament won’t have any additional time, and games that end in a draw will immediately proceed to penalty kicks after 90 minutes. Although Canada managed to keep Argentina at bay for the first half in their initial encounter, I doubt they can replicate this feat. My belief is that Canada must score a minimum of one goal to progress, given their tendency to concede. I predict a match with few goals. If I were Canada, my strategy would be to aim for a goalless draw at the end of regular time and then try to clinch victory in the penalty shootout.

Best Bets: Argentina Halftime/FullTime (+105) BetOnline
I’ll clarify this for those who are new. Our wager is on Argentina leading when the halftime whistle blows and also triumphing in the full 90-minute match. Both these outcomes need to happen for us to be victorious. Anything could transpire within the 45 minutes of each half, as long as Argentina is ahead both times the teams retire to the dressing room.
Despite our initial bet on Under 3 in the first match, anticipating a sluggish start, I believe the situation will change tonight. Argentina is aware that not progressing past Canada tonight would equate to a tournament failure. Given their 2-0 victory over Canada in the group stage, they should be taking this match seriously. I predict they will begin aggressively, launching relentless attacks and frequently shooting at the goal. I envision the team securing an early 1-0 lead, from which they won’t retreat.
This could end up being a 1-0 or 2-0 final, which is why I’m also supporting Argentina to Nil at (-110). Personally, I’ll support the Argentinians to take an extremely aggressive stance and control the game for the entire 90 minutes.
