Braves vs Giants Predictions & MLB Picks Today (8/15)
The Braves head into this afternoon’s showdown looking to sweep the Giants at Oracle Park. After winning the first two contests, Atlanta notched a massive 13-2 victory over San Francisco. Four different Braves players homered in the blowout including Michael Harris II, who hit his first-career grand slam in the first inning.
With the victory, the Braves are now 4-1 SU across their last five games following a lengthy losing streak. Their offense has been the main reason why they’ve achieved success in this series, having outscored the Giants 18-5 on aggregate thus far.
Speaking of which, San Francisco now finds itself on a four-game losing streak — the first time a skid like that has happened since the end of June. Considering how all but three Giants batters are batting .250 or worse during that stretch, it’s easy to see why the team is struggling at the moment.
The latest win was just an example of the Braves’ recent road success. Not only are they 6-2 SU in their last eight away matchups, but they’ve also won five of their last six trips to Oracle Park while outscoring the Giants by an average of 2.7 runs per game.
Whether in San Francisco or elsewhere, the Braves have proven that they can win on the road.
The Braves always have a great chance to win when LHP Max Fried is on the mound, judging by their 13-7 SU record in his first 20 appearances. Having said that, the two-time All-Star hurler is in the middle of his worst stretch of the 2024 MLB season, having pitched to an 0-3 record with a 6.64 ERA in his last four starts.
The good news for Fried is that he tends to pitch well against today’s opponent. In his last six starts against the Giants, the 30-year-old southpaw owns a 3-0 record with a 2.19 ERA and 34 strikeouts across 37 innings.
Meanwhile, San Francisco is countering Fried with MLB innings leader Logan Webb. The 2023 NL Cy Young finalist has gone three consecutive starts allowing one or zero runs, resulting in a 0.83 ERA across 21 2/3 innings.
Additionally, Webb is 3-0 with a 2.98 ERA in seven career starts against the Braves.
Giants RHP Logan Webb has found plenty of success against the Braves throughout his career.
In what’ll likely be a pitching duel at Oracle Park, I’m siding with the Braves on the road. Atlanta has been playing fantastic away from home and has completed dominant San Francisco in this series. The pitchers will keep this game close, but all signs (and recent history) point to the Braves completing this sweep this afternoon.
I also suggest backing the Under on the 8.5-run total. Webb is playing some of his best baseball of the year while Fried is due for a bounce-back performance. Given the success that both pitchers have seen against the opposite franchise, it’s easy to imagine a low-scoring affair — especially when the Under is 4-1 in the last five Braves-Giants matchups, averaging just 6.6 combined runs per game.

Best Braves vs Giants MLB Player Prop (8/15)
Sometimes it’s fun to wager on a “riskier” player prop, which is why I’m going with Ramon Laureano o0.5 runs + RBIs (+149) for my Braves vs. Giants pick.

Although he hasn’t been the most consistent player this season, Laureano has turned things around over the last week. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing .381/.409/.667 in his last seven games (21 at-bats), tallying eight hits, two homers, three RBIs, and six runs along the way. He finished five of those contests with the Over on this prop, which includes when he recorded a pair of runs with an RBI just last night.
Sometimes the right player prop is all about riding with the hot hand. Based on his recent play, expecting more success from Laureano — especially at this value — is the way to go.
