Braves @ Diamondbacks Analysis & Breakdown

The Diamondbacks are currently 3.5 games back of the Padres for a Wild Card spot.

The Braves don’t seem to be the same team we witnessed last year. The injury of Acuna Jr. significantly impacted Atlanta, but the unexpected drop in performance from players like Austin Riley and Matt Olson was truly surprising.

Last year, Olson recorded 54 home runs and 139 RBI. While it was not expected for him to replicate these historic numbers, it seems he is on track to conclude with less than half the home runs and a substantial decrease in RBI.

Riley’s decline hasn’t been as steep, but his numbers are still lower.

Arizona’s coming off a World Series appearance but currently sit 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. It’s a similar place to where they were last season, but the play of their youngster Corbin Carroll is concerning.

Last season, he completed 155 games with 25 home runs and 75 RBI. However, this season he’s managed only 3 home runs and 25 RBI in 89 games, with a batting average of 0.210. It’s been a tough period for the young player, but the emphasis is not on how you start, but rather how you end.
