Best Bets in the WNBA Today | May 28th, 2024
Only three games on the WNBA slate tonight, but the stars are out. Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink go head to head for the second time in under a week. Chicago native Jewell Loyd is back in her hometown, taking on young star Angel Reese. That is only the tip of the iceberg.
Get ready for a thrilling night of WNBA action. Get the popcorn out. It is going to be a great night.

WNBA Best Bet: Los Angeles Sparks (+4.5) (-112)

Cameron Brinks has been fantastic so far for Los Angeles to start her rookie season
Stank:
This will be the second time these two teams face off in under a week. The first matchup came on Friday in Los Angeles, where the Fever came in as slight road favorites. Four days later, the Fever are hosting the Sparks in Indianapolis, and the line opened as them being 6.5 point favorites. I am not buying it.

The Sparks are just as good as the Fever, if not better. And they have some serious firepower on their side. Dearica Hamby, a nine-year veteran, has been on fire (Sprinkle her MVP at 150/1). She’s been posting 20.6 points, 13.2 rebounds (1st) and 3.8 assists per game this season. And let’s not forget about rookie sensation Cameron Brink, who’s leading the league in blocked shots. With players like these, the Sparks are a force to be reckoned with.
Meanwhile, the Fever has been coming around game by game as their young core continues to grow and develop. However, they are not worth being 6.5-point favorites against a similar opponent, regardless of being in their home arena.
Typically, I am a big-numbers nerd who loves to give out stats to back up my reasoning on a bet, but it was mostly the eye and plum test for tonight.
Roll Sparks.
WNBA Best Bet: Seattle Storm (-2.5) (-109)

Stank:
I tried to fade the Sky in their last game after coming off their 17-point underdog victory over the New York Liberty, but after Alyssa Thomas was ejected for throwing Angel Reese to the ground. Although the Sun won, they did not cover.
Dearica Hamby has been on a tear in the interior to start 2024.
Hamby is averaging 14.0 points in the paint, which is tied (w/Nneka Ogwumike and Natasha Howard) for most PITP per game in the W. #WNBATwitter pic.twitter.com/vz20LfNDfH

Today, I am running it back and riding with a team not getting enough respect. The Seattle Storm have something special brewing this season after acquiring veterans Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith and are proving to be a force to reckon with this season. These two stars bring a wealth of depth and experience to the Seattle squad, which will undoubtedly pose a significant challenge for the young and developing Chicago Sky.
After back-to-back losses to the Lynx, Seattle has won three of its last four games, taking down Washington twice and Indiana. The Sky have outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points per game. Although the Sky have been performing well early this season, taking down Dallas and New York, tonight they come back down to earth as they take on a team filled with veteran experience.
The storm will roll through the skies of Chicago tonight.
