Raiders DE Maxx Crosby wants to play with Las Vegas for 'very long time,' win Super Bowl

Maxx Crosby has been a vocal leader since he arrived with the Raiders.

During his time with the Silver and Black, Crosby has stated that he has always wanted to stay with the Raiders for the rest of his NFL career. Speaking on The Jim Rome Show this week, Crosby again expressed his commitment to staying with the Raiders, saying he wants to win a Super Bowl for the team.

“I am inspired by individuals like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, who remained loyal to one team and achieved victories there,” said Crosby. “I mean no disrespect to players like LeBron and others — I’m not criticizing them, but in my view, they chose a less challenging path, and that’s not how I see things.”

Enduring the highs, lows, and challenges will make my eventual Super Bowl win all the more gratifying. I intend to stay here for a significant duration and achieve victory. When I inked that contract, the thought of departure never crossed my mind. I strongly believe that I will remain a Raider for life.

Crosby’s admiration for the one-team journey of Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan is a plus for the Raiders. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive end is contracted only until 2026 with no guaranteed funds beyond the current season. He proudly sports a “Be Legendary” tattoo featuring Bryant and Jordan. While Crosby’s views on LeBron James’ path to success may stir controversy given the rarity of players sticking with a single team in either sport, he has consistently expressed his aspiration to follow a different path.

He wishes to confront any adversity that arises in Las Vegas, with the aim of bringing a trophy home to the Raiders.

Since being drafted by the Raiders in 2019, Crosby has only played in one playoff game in five seasons. Crosby has seen a few changes in head coaches and defensive coordinators over his five seasons with the Raiders. In 2024, Crosby will have the coach he wanted in Antonio Pierce. During Pierce’s time as the interim head coach after Josh McDaniels’ firing, Las Vegas went 5-4 to finish the season. This offseason, owner Mark Davis retained Pierce.

Despite the tumult, the Raiders had some standout moments in the 2023 season. The team warmed up to Pierce’s coaching style and won their first game under his leadership against the New York Giants. They also clinched a resounding 63-21 win against the Los Angeles Chargers and a victory on Christmas Day against the Kansas City Chiefs, embodying the Raider ethos.

Las Vegas will have new pieces to feature with Gardner Minshew, Alexander Mattison, Michael Gallup and Christian Wilkins. Pierce will make a big decision as to who he decides to be starting quarterback between Minshew or Aidan O’Connell for Week 1, something that could be a storyline to watch through training camp.

When mandatory minicamp begins on June 11, Crosby and the Raiders will have the opportunity to continue their journey towards Super Bowl LIX.
