– 7 total players drafted
Moved up in the 1st round from 17th to 14th overall to select Offensive Tackle Broderick Jones.
Used #32 overall pick from Chicago (acquired in the Chase Claypool trade) to draft CB Joey Porter Jr.
All of PIT’s top five selections in the 2023 Draft participated in all 17 matches in 2023.
This offseason, the Steelers acquired free agent QB Russell Wilson and traded for Justin Fields, while trading away Kenny Pickett.
Wilson was signed to a 1-year deal worth $1.2M.
Fields was traded for a conditional 6th Rd pick in 2025.
Traded Pickett and a 2024 4th round pick (number 120) to Philadelphia in exchange for a 2024 3rd round pick (number 98) and two 7th round picks in 2025.
Only two of the eight first-round picks by the Steelers from 2014-2022, Najee Harris and T.J. Watt, are still part of the team.
Kevin Colbert oversaw the PIT draft process from 2000 to 2022, but stepped down after the 2022 NFL Draft.
In the last three drafts, PIT has chosen an offensive player for their 1st round pick.
In 2023, T Broderick Jones was chosen. In 2022, QB Kenny Pickett was chosen. RB Najee Harris was chosen in 2021. However, there was no 1st Rd pick in 2020.
From 2013 to 2019, PIT consistently used their first-round pick on a defensive player each year.
In the last 10 drafts, the Steelers have avoided using a 1st or 2nd round pick on an interior offensive lineman.
