Packers WR Christian Watson (hamstring), CB Jaire Alexander (ankle) active vs. Cowboys
Two key players will be ready to participate in the beginning of Green Bay’s playoff attempt.
Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) and cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder/ankle) are officially active versus the Dallas Cowboys. Watson and Alexander were the only Packers deemed questionable entering Super Wild Card Weekend.
Watson, sidelined since Dec. 3 due to a hamstring injury, is expected to provide a boost to a Packers offense that’s hitting its stride at the perfect time.
Jordan Love has been a major catalyst to that success. According to NFL Research, Love ranks top five in the league in passing yards (2,150; 1st), passing touchdowns (20; 1st), passer rating (112.7; 2nd), TD-INT ratio (18-1; 2nd) and completion percentage (70.3; 3rd) since Week 11.
This season, Watson has recorded 28 catches for 422 yards and five touchdowns in the nine games he has played. However, his practice was restricted throughout the week.
During Wednesday’s practice, Alexander twisted his ankle. This injury led him to miss practice on Thursday and Friday, and it also raised doubts about his ability to participate on Sunday.
The Packers defense, which has had difficulty against leading offenses this season, greatly relies on Alexander’s presence. Meanwhile, in 2023, the Cowboys have managed to keep an impeccable home record (8-0), averaging 37.4 points per game.
The Packers, who are the seventh seed with a 9-8 record, will start their game against the second-seeded Cowboys, who have a 12-5 record, at 4:30 p.m. ET.
