NFL says review into potential tampering by Falcons, Eagles will not conclude week of 2024 draft
The NFL’s investigation into the circumstances of several high-profile free-agent transfers will not be concluded before the start of the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit on Thursday night.
The league announced that their inquiries into the actions of the Eagles and Falcons at the beginning of the new league year, including any potential tampering, are still underway and will not conclude this week, according to NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero’s Tuesday report. Consequently, any disciplinary actions resulting from these investigations will not affect the 2024 draft picks.
The Eagles are under review for their signing of Saquon Barkley away from the division-rival Giants, while the Falcons have drawn attention from the NFL for their efforts to sign quarterback Kirk Cousins. Public comments regarding both moves drew additional attention from the league, and as of Tuesday, NFL officials have not wrapped up their investigations into the matters, per Rapoport and Pelissero.
Cousins signed a four-year, $180 million deal with Atlanta at the start of the new league year, while Barkley moved from New York to Philadelphia on a three-year, $37.75 million contract.
