Drew Brees to be inducted into Saints Hall of Fame during 2024 season
The club announced on Thursday that quarterback Drew Brees will be inducted into the New Orleans Saints’ Hall of Fame during the 2024 season.
Brees, who signed with the Saints in 2006, went on to enjoy a Pro Football Hall of Fame career in The Bayou. Throughout his 15 seasons in New Orleans, Brees managed to surpass the 5,000-yard passing mark five times and led the NFL in passing for seven seasons.
The accolades for the Saints’ 12-time Pro Bowler and 2006 Walter Payton Man of the Year recipient, only start there. In New Orleans, Brees received the Offensive Player of the Year title twice, was selected once for first-team All-Pro and four times for second-teams, led the league in touchdowns four times, led in passer-rating twice, and led in completion percentage six times. Brees also holds the NFL record for the highest completion percentage in a season (74.4% in 2018), the highest completion percentage in a single game (96.7%), the most 5,000-yard seasons, and is tied for the record for the most passing touchdowns in a single game (7).
Brees, perhaps most significantly, guided the Saints to their first-ever Super Bowl victory in franchise history. They defeated Peyton Manning’s Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV.
After retiring following the 2020 season, Brees was always a shoo-in for the team’s Hall of Fame and, eventually, the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The only question remaining: What week will the team host his induction into the club HOF, and whether it will be when Sean Payton and the Broncos visit New Orleans in Week 7 on Thursday night on Prime Video?
