Chiefs DL BJ Thompson in stable condition after suffering seizure, cardiac arrest during meeting; Kansas City cancels team activities
Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman BJ Thompson suffered a seizure during a special teams meeting Thursday and went into cardiac arrest, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.
Pelissero added that the medical staff of Kansas City acted swiftly before an ambulance was called, and Thompson is now in a stable condition.
“BJ remains unconscious at this moment, however, he is stable with good vital signs,” relayed Chris Turnage, Thompson’s agent, to Pelissero on Thursday night. “His family is requesting ongoing prayers.”
All team activities planned for Thursday were cancelled by the Chiefs.
The media availability for head coach Andy Reid and selected players, initially scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to Friday.
Thompson, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 draft, played in one game during his rookie season.
The current Super Bowl champions are now in Phase 3 of their optional offseason program. The obligatory minicamp is set to start on Tuesday.
