Centennial edition of East-West Shrine Bowl to be played at AT&T Stadium in January
The East-West Shrine Bowl will remain in Texas for its 100th iteration, but this time with an upgrade.
The pre-NFL Draft all-star game announced Monday it will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 30, 2025.
Tom Pelissero, NFL Network Insider, was the first to report the venue for the game, which will be broadcasted on NFL Network.
Last year, the East-West Shrine Bowl was held at The Star, the training and practice facility of the Cowboys. However, for its centennial edition, the event was rightfully upgraded to the location where the Cowboys play their Sunday games. This is the ultimate aspiration for the collegiate athletes participating in the event.
“Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones expressed his delight at presenting the top college football players in the country in the 100th edition of the historic East-West Shrine Bowl, scheduled for January at AT&T Stadium,” according to a release by the East-West Shrine Bowl. He added, “It’s a privilege to host another college football game of this magnitude. We eagerly anticipate welcoming the country’s best college football players to North Texas, with our primary focus on aiding the mission of Shriners Children’s.”
Established in 1925, the East-West Shrine Bowl holds the record as the most enduring college all-star game. The event is designed to support Shriners Children’s and its commitment to providing care for children with a range of health conditions, irrespective of their families’ financial capacity to cover the expenses.
The impact of the game for its participants has exploded in recent years, even after a century of play. The East-West Shrine Bowl produced 57 NFL draftees, an all-time high in the event’s history and a 24% increase from 2023, when the event produced its then-highest number of drafted players (45) in the past decade.
Among those selected were Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks, the highest draftees at No. 45 and 46 overall, respectively, and two quarterbacks, the Ravens’ Devin Leary and the Jets’ Jordan Travis.
Other legends of the game such as Tom Brady, Walter Payton and John Elway also showcased in past years, as well as current notable players like Brock Purdy, Zay Flowers and Isiah Pacheco.
In just over six months, a new group of players will hit the field at AT&T Stadium to decide who’s up next.
“We are excited to host our 100th game at one of the most amazing sports venues worldwide,” said Bob Roller, the vice president of sports at Shriners Children’s. “The East-West Shrine Bowl has significantly transformed children’s lives over the past century. Having the country’s top college football all-stars play at AT&T Stadium is indeed an appropriate way to celebrate this significant milestone.”
