Andy Reid, Trey Smith, Mecole Hardman among Chiefs to join cast of Hallmark movie
Two weeks after the Chiefs unveiled they were hooking up with Hallmark on a holiday flick, the production announced the addition of a few famous cast members familiar with Arrowhead Stadium.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, guard Trey Smith, wide receiver Mecole Hardman, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, defensive end George Karlaftis and other players will be featured in Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, the team and Hallmark Channel announced Thursday in a press release.
This will be the first feature film role for Reid, who as a three-time Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Famer is already well accomplished in his field. The Chiefs coach has in recent years made forays into the entertainment sphere, however, starring in State Farm commercials alongside Chiefs quarterback and part-time insurance spokesman Patrick Mahomes.
Also joining the cast, which already included Hunter King, Tyler Hynes and Ed Begley Jr., are Christine Ebersole, Megyn Price, Richard Riehle and Diedrich Bader, a.k.a. former Bengals long snapper Clark Harris‘ doppelganger.
Production on the film is currently underway at locations in and around Kansas City, Missouri, including GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Holiday Touchdown is set to air this year during Hallmark’s 15th anniversary of Countdown to Christmas, right as the Chiefs are hoping to count down to a 10th straight playoff berth and third straight Super Bowl title.
After their time on set, Reid and the Chiefs are set to return to football next week, as Kansas City rookies report July 16 and veterans show up July 20.
