2023 NFL season, Week 9: Notable injuries, news from Sunday's games

Here are the injuries and news we’re monitoring around the league on this Week 9 Sunday:

  • Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said the team will “get back and evaluate” if quarterback Taylor Heinicke will remain the starter in Week 10. Running back Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle), wide receiver Mack Hollins (ankle), and cornerback Dee Alford (ankle) did not return versus the Vikings.
  • Baltimore Ravens cornerback Kevon Seymour (shoulder) did not return to the game versus the Seahawks.
  • Buffalo Bills linebacker Terrel Bernard (concussion) was ruled out against the Bengals. Safety Micah Hyde (stinger) left the game and did not return.
  • Carolina Panthers tight end Stephen Sullivan (shoulder) did not return against the Colts. Linebacker Brian Burns (concussion) and cornerback C.J. Henderson (concussion) were ruled out.
  • Chicago Bears fullback Khari Blasingame was evaluated for a concussion and did not return versus the Saints.
  • Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (chest/back) was taken to the locker room and was evaluated for a concussion. Offensive tackle Yosh Nijman (back) and defensive lineman Kenny Clark (shoulder) did not return to the game versus the Rams.
  • Houston Texans safeties Jimmie Ward (hamstring), M.J. Stewart (shoulder), wide receiver John Metchie III (ribs), defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway (ankle) and kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn (quad) were ruled out versus the Buccaneers. Running back Dare Ogunbowale handled the team’s kicking duties. Linebacker Jake Hansen (hand) did not return.
  • Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs (knee) was ruled out against the Panthers.
  • Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Marcus Peters (knee) was ruled out against the Giants.
  • Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer (knee) is being placed on injured reserve.
  • Los Angeles Rams cornerback Cobie Durant (shoulder) did not return to the game versus the Packers.
  • Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Rob Jones suffered a knee injury and did not return to Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs.
  • Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell says the team fears running back Cam Akers suffered an Achilles injury in Sunday’s game versus the Falcons. Quarterback Jaren Hall (concussion) and wide receiver K.J. Osborn did not return.
  • New Orleans Saints defensive end Isaiah Foskey (thigh) did not return to the game versus the Bears.
  • New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is feared to have suffered a significant knee injury — potentially a torn ACL — against the Raiders, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported. Jones will undergo more testing Monday. Offensive tackle Evan Neal (ankle) and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (concussion) were ruled out.
  • Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (forearm) was ruled out against the Cowboys. Goedert left the X-ray room and walked to the locker room favoring his right arm, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported. Linebacker Nakobe Dean (foot) was also ruled out against the Cowboys.
  • Seattle Seahawks running back DeeJay Dallas (shoulder) did not return to the game versus the Ravens.
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Jamel Dean was ruled out after being evaluated for a concussion in Sunday’s game versus the Texans. Defensive back Josh Hayes was also evaluated for a concussion.
