Dallas Stars vs Edmonton Oilers, Game 6 Best Bets: Will Edmonton Advance to Finals?

The Edmonton Oilers are back on their home ice with a chance to punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals tonight with a win over the Dallas Stars. Last night, the Florida Panthers took down the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals in Game 6, solidifying their spot in a 2nd straight Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers could do the same tonight in front of their home crowd.

Stars vs Oilers Series History

After winning Game 1 in Dallas in double OT, the Oilers dropped the next two games to the Stars. Despite outshooting the Stars in every single game, the Oilers could not sneak any past Jake Oettinger. The Dallas defense certainly helped him out as they blocked 22+ shots in all three of those games.

In Game 4 at home, the Oilers found themselves down 1-0 less than a minute into the game thanks to Wyatt Johnston. Just 5 minutes later, Esa Lindell netted another one, and Dallas quickly led 2-0 very early in the game. Things looked grim for the Oilers who were already down 2-1 in the series, and now down 2-0 at home, but that didn’t stop them. Ryan McLeod and Evan Bouchard netted a pair of goals towards the end of the 1st to tie the game at 2.

And the Oilers never looked back.

Edmonton had two goals in the 2nd and an empty netter in the 3rd to seal a 5-2 victory, evening the series at 2 games a piece before heading back to Texas. The Oilers momentum continued on down in Dallas, as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a pair of Powerplay goals to open the scoring, eventually jumping out to a 3-0 lead. The Stars were able to get one back in the 3rd, but lost at home, 3-1.

Now here we are, back North of the Border, where the Oilers can seal their fate and win the Western Conference Finals. Will Connor McDavid and company do just that? Or will the Stars pull off the upset, and force a Game 7 back home?

Will Oilers Seal Series at Home?

Zach Hyman has scored 13 postseason goals this year, leading the Oilers and the NHL

The Oilers are a very streaky team and they are red hot at the moment. Throughout the regular season, they won 3 straight games on 6 separate occasions, which doesn’t include an 8 game winning streak and a 16 game winning streak as well. This playoffs they have already won three straight games twice, including 3 straight against the Kings. Ultimately, I see them beating the Stars at home tonight and punching their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals.

It has taken everything in Jake Oettinger and the Stars defense to contain this Oilers offense, and it still hasn’t been enough. The Oilers have outshot the Stars in all 5 games this series, averaging 30.4 shots on goal, while the Stars are putting up just 22.25 in their L4 contests. Edmonton has scored 3 goals in 4/5 games this series, and Dallas has only done so twice. I don’t trust the Stars to produce enough offense to keep up with the attack of the Oilers, and eventually their defense will wear down.

The Stars are blocking 21.6 shots per game, blocking 20+ in 4/5 games, yet the Oilers still pepper the net over 30 times per game. I have no problem backing the volume that this offense plays with, and although Oettinger’s goaltending is top tier, I’ve got a feeling we see a little regression from him and the Stars’ back line.

Give me the Oilers to get it done, and I’m getting greedy with it as well.

Best Bet: Oilers in Reg (+122) Bovada

I think the Oilers end this thing tonight. All of their studs should step up in this big time game. They all saw the Panthers punch their ticket last night, and now Florida is sitting around waiting to see who their opponent will be. Edmonton does not want to play around with the Stars, and they don’t want to give a potential Stanley Cup Finals foe more time to rest and prepare.

They should be all in on ending this thing tonight.

The Stars are scoring just 2.83 goals per game this postseason, putting up just 27.6 shots on goal per game. Those numbers both decrease this series, and Oettinger can only play out of his mind for so long. I trust the Oilers to end this this in 60 minutes tonight for plus money, and I’ll also be sprinkling a half unit on the puck line as well, essentially betting on an empty netter to seal the series.

Take us home, Oilers.
