Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars, Game 2 Prediction & Best Bets: How Will Dallas Respond?
Tonight we’ve got Game 2 in Texas as the Dallas Stars look to bounce back against the Edmonton Oilers. The Stars have now dropped 3 straight Game 1s at home this NHL playoffs, to the Knights, the Avalanche, and the Oilers. However, they did bounce back in Game 2 against the Avs last series. Will they even up the series tonight?
After a scoreless 1st period, we saw the Oilers jump out the a 2-0 lead just 4 minutes into the 2nd. The Stars quickly responded, with Tyler Seguin netting one less than two minutes later. It took Seguin’s heroism once again in the 3rd period, where he scored to force overtime with less than 4 minutes on the clock.
In double OT, the game ended by none other than Connor McDavid sinking one for the Oilers just 32 seconds into the extra period.
What will tonight’s game have in store for us?

Will Oilers Go Up 2-0 and Head Home?
Leon Draisaitl has elevated his game in the playoffs this year
The Oilers were able to muster up 38 shots against the Stars in Game 1, conceding 33 of their own. The teams combined for nearly 50 blocked shots, so it was clear they were letting the pucks rip.
What really stood out to me, was the different in penalty minutes. The Stars had 5 powerplay opportunities at home, and ironically the visiting Oilers, who lead the NHL in PP% this postseason, only had one opportunity all game. I think we could see that change tonight, however, Dallas will certainly have a huge focus on defense. The Stars will do their best to limit Edmonton’s PP opportunities once again.
The Stars are well aware of the firepower that the Oilers have on offense. Jake Oettinger is incredible, but he is still human, so helping him out by getting in the way of shots and limited high danger chances will be a priority for the home team as they look to bounce back. As far as a side, I do not have much of an opinion, so I will be sticking to a bet on the total in this game.
Edmonton Oilers vs Dallas Stars Best Bets
Connor McDavid sealed the game in OT for the Oilers
Best Bet: EDM/DAL Under 5.5 (+113) BetOnline
We saw 71 total SOGs in Game 1, but we also had an entire extra period of play. Dallas is well aware that defense wins championships, and they will look to limit McDavid and company. I see tonight being a game that is exciting, but low scoring, resulting in either a 2-1 or 3-1 victory. I see the game tonight only going 60 minutes with a possible empty netter from the leading team as time is expiring, but for plus money, I will certainly back the under.
This is by far the best number on the market, and if you need the cushion, you can find Under 6 (-120). Me personally, I’ll tap into the 5.5 and give up my push for more of a reward.
