RBC Canadian Open Predictions & Picks: Expect McIlroy Magic This Week
Before a three-week stretch that features two signature events sandwiched around the third major of the season, the PGA Tour will venture north of the border for the RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ontario.
There will be a lot of heavy hearts on the course this week, as was also the case over the final two rounds of last week’s Charles Schwab Challenge.
As the third round took place Saturday, it was announced that two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray had passed away that morning.
Murray had withdrawn from the tournament after finishing 16 holes of the second round, and his parents announced Sunday that the 30-year-old, who had been open about his personal struggles, had died by suicide.
In the wake of the tragic news, the Charles Schwab Challenge continued with the approval of Murray’s parents. Davis Riley finished five strokes ahead of Scottie Scheffler and Keegan Bradley to claim his second career PGA Tour title.
Scheffler isn’t in the tournament field this week, but a host of notable names will be taking part. The headliner is two-time RBC Canadian Open winner Rory McIlroy, who won the tournament the last time it was held at this course in 2019. McIlroy is a firm favorite for the win, coming out well ahead of Tommy Fleetwood and Sahith Theegala.
If he backs up that status, he will be become only the fifth golfer with three or more RBC Canadian Open victories.

RBC Canadian Open Predictions & Picks
RBC Canadian Open Winner Prediction & Pick: Rory McIlroy (+400)
When Hamilton Golf and Country Club last hosted the RBC Canadian Open, McIlroy (-22) shot a final-round 61 to finish seven strokes ahead of Lowry and Webb Simpson.
It would be hard to pick against him as it is, but in his last three tournaments, he has two wins (the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Lowry and the Wells Fargo Championship) and a tie for 12th (PGA Championship). So, he is in good form heading into the tournament.
Shane Lowry to finish in the top 10 (+250)
Lowry is back in action this week after finishing tied for sixth at the PGA Championship. You have to like his chances to contend this week given his finish at Valhalla and how he performed at this course in 2019.
Alex Noren to finish in the top 20 (+115)
This is my favorite RBC Canadian Open bet. Here is how Noren has performed in his last eight tournaments (most recent first): tied for 12th, tied for 24th, third, tied for 23rd, tied for 14th, tied for 11th, tied for 19th, tied for ninth.
Adam Hadwin to finish in the top 20 (+200)
Since recording a season-best tie for fourth at the Genesis Invitational in February, Hadwin has finished inside the top 40 just once (a tie for fifth at the Valspar Championship in March). But this is a good spot to get behind him. In the 2019 RBC Canadian Open, he finished sixth and was in contention for the win entering the final round.
