Astros vs Orioles: Sunday Night Baseball Predictions, Odds & Best Bets
Sunday Night Baseball is here once again, and we’ve got a thriller in store for us tonight. The Houston Astros are out east playing the Baltimore Orioles and both teams desperately need some wins this late in the season. Houston finally has a 4.5 lead over the Mariners in the AL West, while the Orioles have fallen half a game behind the Yankees in the AL East. This will be the 4th and final game of his series, that the Orioles are currently leading 2-1. While the Astros were able ti shutout Baltimore in the first game, the Orioles have battled back at home to secure the last 2 wins. Overall, Houston actually leads the regular season series 4-2, after sweeping the Orioles in Houston back in June.
Although Houston has a 4.5 game lead in the division, they are slumping at the moment. Houston has lost 4 of their L5 games, and continue their tough road trip by meeting the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park starting tomorrow. They will desperately want to get back on the right track before entering that hostile environment.
As for the Orioles, they’ve won two straight back at home, but they still trail the Yankees by half a game. With time in the season running out, Baltimore will certainly give it everything they’ve got tonight as they host the visiting Astros. Will their bats stay hot at home? Or can the Astros find a way to win on the road?

Who Will Take the Final Game of this Series?
Can the Astros put up some runs on the Orioles tonight?
Today on the mound we have two pitchers whom the kids would call “turkey tossers”. They have a tendency to get shelled, and their north of 4.00 ERAs suggest the same. Even though Yusei Kikuchi has not lost a game since becoming a part of this Astros rotation, all good things must come to an end. He’s allowed a home run in 3/4 starts with Houston, and he faces an Orioles team that lights up lefties. Kikuchi has also seen these hitters plenty, and some have fantastic numbers against him.
As a team, the Orioles hit .253 overall, .255 at home, and .258 against lefties. But some specific hitters really see the ball well against Kikuchi.
Orioles vs Kikuchi
- Ryan Mountcastle: .450 AVG, 20 AB
- Adley Rutschman .391 AVG, 23 AB
- Anthony Santander: .294 AVG, 17 AB
Those three have combined for 8 home runs off of Kikuchi, and with their 39-29 record at home, I see the Orioles producing some runs tonight. As for their pitching, Dean Kremer starts for Baltimore, and although his splits get worse at home, he is coming off two straight wins. Kremer has allowed just 2 runs on 7 hits in his L2 starts, striking out 10 batters in 12 innings combined. With the Astros hitting .260 as a team, he will certainly have his work cutout for him as well.
With this in mind, we will be backing the over tonight.

Looking at the ratings on batters-box.com (Do NOT Forget the Hyphen), and we absolutely HAVE to bet the over. Honestly, it might be very one sided, but I do think we see runs on both sides. The Baltimore Orioles have 2 Elite Hitters, 3 Great Hitters, and 5 others with an Above Average rating today against Mr. Kikuchi. The Top 3 hitters are the ones mentioned above with plenty of history and success against this guy, plus Eloy Jimenez and Jackson Holliday could also be primed for a big night.
As for the Astros side of things, they also boast 3 above average hitters in the lineup tonight, and for a team hitting .260 overall against Kremer, I certainly think they will contribute to the total. Give me both teams to light up the batters box tonight as we get some juiced balls for Sunday Night Baseball!
