Whether you don’t want to miss a minute of the action (Full Game), need to speed-run through a matchup (Condensed Game), or aim to break down tape like the experts (All-22), NFL+ has you covered.
At the ripe old age of 27 and with a half-dozen years in the NFL under his belt, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has cemented himself as one of the top signal-callers of this generation.
Jackson has two Associated Press Most Valuable Player awards to his name, winning in 2019 and in 2023 to become the second-youngest two-time winner, with the first coming by unanimous vote. Add on two first-team All-Pro nods and a trio of Pro Bowl appearances and you’ve got the man the Ravens have trusted to lead their franchise for the foreseeable future.
Jackson made a name for himself with his rushing abilities, including setting a new single-season standard for the position in 2019 with 1,206 yards. But he’s also recognized for his elite passing skills, dominating opponents via land and air across his six years in the league.
In 2023, Jackson led the Ravens to a league-best 13-4 record and the AFC Championship Game, before his squad fell just short of reaching a Super Bowl, one of the only achievements Jackson has yet to earn in his career.
Jackson already has many an astonishing performance to his name. From the beginning to his most recent successes, five of those outings stand out, all of which can be revisited on NFL+ before Jackson looks to take his team back to the postseason and defend his MVP crown in the upcoming season.
1) Jackson makes an entrance in blowout win
- GAME: 2019 NFL regular season Week 1 vs. Dolphins, Sept. 8, 2019
- Re-watch on NFL+
From almost the beginning of his time as the Ravens’ QB1, Jackson has been putting up impressive numbers and leading his team to victory. After showing promise in limited starts during his rookie season after beginning as the backup behind Joe Flacco, Jackson was tabbed as the Ravens starter entering the 2019 season. And in his first game with that new title, Jackson balled out, putting together a 59-10 season-opening blowout victory over the Dolphins. Jackson led three touchdown drives in just the opening quarter, including connecting with receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown for 47- and 83-yard TD catches to take an early lead. Jackson added three more passing scores by the game’s end and, with 324 passing yards on only 17-of-20 passing, finished the game with a perfect passer rating of 158.3 — the first of two games that season he’d record that impressive and elusive stat. The Ravens put their faith in the then-22-year-old Jackson, and he came out of the gate swinging in the first outing of what would become his first MVP campaign.
2) Texans on wrong side of second-half playoff dominance
- GAME: AFC Divisional Round vs. Texans, Jan. 20, 2024
- Re-watch on NFL+
From one of his earliest wins we move to his most recent, where Jackson led the Ravens to a victory over the Texans in the 2023 Divisional Round. Houston came into the game as the Cinderella story of the season, but matched up against the juggernaut No. 1-seeded Ravens, led by Jackson, who proceeded to almost single-handedly capture the win en route to his first appearance in the AFC Championship Game. The afternoon started as a close affair, with Jackson and C.J. Stroud‘s offenses exchanging blows through the first half to enter the locker rooms tied at the half. But it was all Baltimore from that point on as Jackson led four unanswered scoring drives to put the game out of hand. First it was a rushing touchdown in the third quarter, nimbly weaving between defenders for a 15-yard score. Then he went back to the pass, throwing on the run to find Isaiah Likely in the end zone. And for a cherry on top, Jackson ran for another score and just kept running into the tunnel in celebration. His final stat line? He had 152 yards and two touchdowns passing, and 100 yards and two touchdowns rushing. Jackson is one of the preeminent dual-threat quarterbacks, and he showcased both aspects of his game to their full capacity in this postseason romp.
3) Mid-game injury can’t stop Jackson’s clutch play
- GAME: 2020 NFL regular season Week 14 vs. Browns, Dec. 14, 2020
- Re-watch on NFL+
In a massive AFC North matchup on Monday Night Football, the drama was abundant and Jackson was the hero. The quarterback started the night with a classic Lamar rushing performance, collecting 124 yards and two touchdowns on just nine carries, with the highlight coming on a 44-yard scramble on third down to put the Ravens in the red zone. But then Jackson exited the game midway through the third quarter with reports of cramping, and the Browns climbed back to take a 35-34 lead while third-string Baltimore QB Trace McSorley struggled and then was injured. Jackson unexpectedly returned to the game and came up clutch. With the Ravens facing fourth-and-5 at the two-minute warning, Jackson’s first pass was a 44-yard toss on the run to Marquise Brown, putting Baltimore back in front. And when Cleveland tied things up again, Jackson’s four straight completions in the last minute set up the game-winning field goal, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat in an ending worthy of the best TV dramas.
4) Jackson has all-time great performance in overtime thriller
- GAME: 2021 NFL regular season Week 5 vs. Colts, Oct. 11, 2021
- Re-watch on NFL+
Purely based on the numbers, Jackson produced during this Monday Night Football victory. But more than just statistics, Jackson’s ability to perform in crunch time keyed a 19-point comeback, with the quarterback coming alive in the final minutes of regulation and overtime. It was an off day for Jackson to start, with the offense largely stymied and the QB responsible for a goal-line fumble in the third quarter. Down, 25-9, in the fourth quarter, Jackson flipped a switch and led three consecutive TD drives, linked up with Mark Andrews for two scores and a pair of two-point conversions to tie things up at the end of regulation. And after getting the ball first in the extra period, Jackson never gave the Colts a chance, completing all six of his passes and scrambling a couple times before finding Marquise Brown in the end zone to complete the comeback. Jackson finished with a whopping 442 passing yards (504 total yards) and four touchdowns with a 86.05 completion percentage. Coach John Harbaugh later said it was “one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen.”
5) Jackson says Happy New Year en route to second MVP
- GAME: 2023 NFL regular season Week 17 vs. Dolphins, Dec. 31, 2023
- Re-watch on NFL+
This list began with a dominant performance against the Dolphins, so it only feels fitting to finish it with another. Though halfway through the 2023 season no clear front-runner for the NFL MVP had emerged, Jackson cemented himself as the clear choice with his play down the stretch, stringing together six straight wins between Weeks 11-17, with Baltimore averaging over 33 points in those contests. To finish up this dominant span, Jackson took the field against the Dolphins in Week 17 and torched the Miami defense to the tune of 56 points. Jackson orchestrated touchdown drives on four of his first five drives, and finished the game with five TD passes, earning his third career game with a perfect passer rating to move into a tie for most all time. Highlights included a beauty of a 33-yard toss to Odell Beckham Jr., who just kept his feet in bounds to put the Ravens at the goal line in the second quarter. Jackson followed with back-to-back TD passes in under two minutes, first a 75-yard TD pass to Zay Flowers with plenty of space, and then a 35-yarder to Isaiah Likely just before halftime. The win locked down the AFC North, secured the Ravens the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, and all but ensured that Jackson would hoist his second MVP trophy in the new year. It was a fitting encapsulation of Jackson’s mastery of the game and his integral role in the Ravens’ 2023 success.
