#10 Florida State vs Georgia Tech Predictions
The Stank:
The Florida State Seminoles, after a stellar season that concluded in a letdown, are heading into Week 0 looking to make amends. Their season saw them clinch the ACC title and maintain an unbeaten streak, but they were snubbed from the College Football Playoffs. Now, they’re resolute in demonstrating that they merited inclusion.
Four starters on offense, four on defense, and two on special teams are returning to Florida State. These seasoned players, in addition to their fellow teammates, are extremely motivated to prove themselves in the current season, rather than focusing on the previous year’s disappointment.

The Seminoles continue to boast a strong secondary and defensive line, along with a solid offensive line. Yet, much of their potential success this season, and in the current game, depends on DJ Uiagalelei. His stint at Clemson was filled with ups and downs, but he demonstrated early potential by guiding the team to a victory over Notre Dame during his freshman year when Trevor Lawrence was sidelined with COVID. Despite a less than remarkable tenure at Clemson, his single season at Oregon State was fruitful. He managed to throw for 2,638 yards, 21 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions—a record closely mirroring his final 2022 season at Clemson, albeit with 54 fewer attempts.
Despite being an average team, Georgia Tech has raised eyebrows by ranking in the top ten for returning players this season. This includes their starting quarterback, Haynes King. In a time when player transfers are common, this stability could indicate that the program is constructing something that the players have faith in—a key element in sports. While belief and confidence can be game-changers, I don’t perceive King guiding Georgia Tech to a surprise victory over the Seminoles.
Florida State is expected to significantly outperform Georgia Tech. I’m willing to take the high-risk line in Week 0, although I would exhibit more caution in any other week.
Prediction: Florida State Wins & Covers
