The Stank:
Welcome to Letdown Spot, USA, a place where the Atlanta Dream’s defeat is long overdue. Following the Olympic break, they have managed to triumph over the Seattle Storm despite being seven-point underdogs, and likewise, against the Connecticut Sun, where they were underdogs by eight and a half points.
The Mercury, fresh off a commanding victory over the Chicago Sky on Sunday, are ideally positioned to take on the Dream team, who have been exceeding expectations. However, we’re not referring to the Dream Team that included Michael Jordan.
Phoenix has displayed excellent performance in both offense and defense over their past 15 games, placing in the top three for both categories. Their primary problem lies in allowing guards to score three-pointers, an issue also faced by Atlanta.
Perhaps the break was exactly what the Dream needed to find their rhythm for a playoff run, but they still aren’t a formidable team. The Mercury, in contrast, is undeniably a far better team and is likely to emerge victorious.
